MOSCOW. Sept 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ukrainian Motor Sich engine-building enterprise attributes this year's increase in its output to the growing production volume of the D-436TP aircraft engine.
"The start of production of the BE-200 amphibian with D-436TP engines and TU-334 short-range plane with D-436T1 engines explains the growing output of D-346 aircraft engines, which has had and will have a positive effect on the financial and economic situation at the company," Motor Sich Director General Vyacheslav Boguslayev told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
He said that some 30 engines of that type had been produced. In particular, six aircraft engines for BE-200 aircraft have been made and shipped to customers in 2002 and two more engines are to be handed over before the end of the year.
"No less than eight engines will be made for the BE-200 in 2003," Boguslayev stressed.
He noted that the Tupolev company would get two D-436T1 engines this year for subsequent installation in the TU-334 plane that is being built by the MIG aircraft company. Two more engines of that type will be shipped to the Kyiv-based Aviant aircraft plant for mounting on the TU-334 prototype.
"Motor Sich has made two new D-436T1-134 engines for the modernized variant of the TU-134 plane but no order on the modernization has been made yet," Boguslayev stressed.
He said that taking into account a high potential demand for engines of the D-436-family, their mass production would be launched at three engine-building enterprises located in Zaporizhzhia, Ufa and Moscow.
"These companies are the Ufa engine-building enterprise and Moscow's Salyut company that is to take part in cooperation supplies of serially produced D-436 engines accounting for some 30 percent of the total output. In Ukraine, Motor Sich will be the head producer of D-436," Boguslayev added.
Engines of the D-436 family differ in the take-off thrust. D- 436TP and D-436T1 have a take-off thrust of 7,500kg, D-436T2 - 8,200kg, and D-436T3 - 9,075kg. The dry weight of the D-436TP engine is 1,450kg, and its service life is 25,000 hours.
