MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Tbilisi supports Chechen field commander Ruslan Gelayev and arms Chechen rebels and mercenaries in the Pankisi Gorge, a Chechen rebel captured in the area of Galashki, Ingushetia, has said.
"I have heard more than once that Gelayev was given medical treatment in Tbilisi and met with Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze. In Pankisi I saw ministerial vehicles, which brought came by the vehicles and rebels] agreed on the support. They also shipped missiles, armaments and cartridges for Gelayev," captured rebel Murtaz Mani said. A tape of his interrogation was shown on the Russia television channel on Thursday.
Mani joined Gelayev's unit in 2001. He said about 400 rebels received sabotage training in the Pankisi Gorge.
