TBILISI. Oct 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The Georgian Prosecutor General's Office has delayed a decision on whether eight Chechen rebels from a group of 13 detained by Georgian border guards in August should be extradited to Russia.
"Additional information is necessary to establish the detainees' identity," Paata Mskhiladze, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office, told the press Monday.
"Contrary to statements of the Chechens' lawyers, there are no Georgian citizens among the detainees," he said.
"We will once again consider the extradition as soon as the identification process is over," Mskhiladze noted.
Last week, the Georgian side turned over to Russia five rebels from that group of detainees.
