U.S. Joint Chiefs-of-Staff chairman to visit Georgia

TBILISI. Oct 17 (Interfax-AVN) - General Richard Myers, Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Chairman, will visit Georgia in late October, Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Gela Bezhuashvili said on Thursday.

"The U.S. military commander will make an official visit by an invitation from Georgian Chief-of-Staff Dzhoni Pirtskhalaishvili," Bezhuashvili told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Myers will study the situation in the Georgian Armed Forces and negotiate with Defense Minister David Tevzadze, Pirtskhalaishvili and several other officials.

"The talks will be very serious and important, and Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze will take part in them," Bezhuashvili stressed.
