South Korean warships start official visit to Russia

VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 21 (Interfax-AVN) - A warship unit of the South Korean Navy has arrived in Vladivostok, the Russian Pacific Fleet's main base, for an official visit, a spokesman for the fleet headquarters said on Monday.

The unit sailing under the flag of the commander of the 5th South Korean Navy flotilla consists of the King Kwang-Gae-to-dae- wang destroyer, a frigate and an auxiliary vessel, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The South Korean warships were welcomed by Pacific Fleet Deputy Chief-of-Staff Rear Admiral Valery Andreyev and South Korean Ambassador to Russia Chung Tae Ik.

It is the sixth visit of South Korean sailors to Russia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
