Russia-U.S. talks to address North Korean nuclear program

MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax-AVN) - North Korea's nuclear program, nonproliferation issues, the situation around Iraq and Russian- Iranian cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy will dominate the agenda of Russian-U.S. consultations, which began in Moscow on Monday morning.

An Interfax correspondent has reported that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Mamedov and U.S. Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security John Bolton are participating.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Bolton, during his October 21- 22 visit, is expected to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and Security Council Secretary Vladimir Rushailo.

A U.S. embassy spokesman told Interfax that the U.S. undersecretary of state will also meet with officials from the Atomic Energy Ministry and Aviation and Space Agency.

A diplomatic source told Interfax that some adjustments were made to the talks' agenda after statements last week by U.S. officials linked to Pyongyang's admission to having a nuclear program.

Bolton last visited Moscow in September for strategic security consultations.
