Officials of Chechen airline arrested on suspicion of helping guerillas

GROZNY. Oct 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Several persons working for the Vainakh-Avia airline have been arrested by law enforcement officers of Chechnya on suspicion of assisting guerillas, a source at the Russian Interior Ministry's Directorate for Chechnya told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

"The arrests were based on interception of radio communications. First we detained the owner of a cafe located near the Severny airfield who admitted contacting guerillas along with other company staff. Then during a search at some company people's houses, five rifles, several grenade launchers, two relay stations, and four Kenwood radio stations have been found," the source said.

Investigation is underway to find out whether the suspects took part in sabotage and acts of terror in Grozny, he said.
