STAVROPOL. Oct 29 (Interfax-AVN) - A working meeting of Russian and Georgian border guard officials started at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint on Tuesday.
"The negotiations address a forthcoming trilateral exercise of Azerbaijani, Georgian and Russian border guards, as well as several issues pertaining to joint protection of the Russian-Georgian border," the press service of the North Caucasus regional border guard department reported.
According to it, "the participants in the meeting discuss details and location of the trilateral training." Last week a similar meeting involving Russian and Azerbaijani border guards took place at the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint.
Chief of the department's press service Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Livantsov said that the trilateral exercise would take place on the Dagestani border stretch. Their participants will practice key issues of interaction between border guard units of neighboring countries in the interests of the joint border protection.
The date of the exercise is not yet determined.
