TBILISI. Oct 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and Georgia are negotiating on the exchange of information about persons who cross the border through the Nizhny Zaramag and Verkhny Lars checkpoints, chairman of the Georgian State Border Guard Department Valery Chekheidze told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
"The proposal was made by the Georgian party in order to stop crossing the border by criminal elements," the chairman said.
He stressed that Russia preserved visa-free crossing of the Abkhaz and Ossetian sections of the border with Georgia after introducing visa controls in December 2000. "These sections became real black holes on the border," the chairman added.
