Two rebels wanted by Interpol detained in Dagestan

GROZNY. Nov 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Two members of illegal armed formations included in Interpol's international wanted list have been detained in Dagestan, a source in the Federal Security Service (FSB) department for Chechnya told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

"The operation was held jointly by Chechen and Dagestani FSB agents, as well as the Dagestani Interior Ministry's criminal investigation department and Chechen interior department," the source said.

The operation took place in the village of Khadzhalmakhi in Dagestan's Levashi district. The detainees were residents of the Khotoch village in the Gunib district and Khosrekh village in the Kulin district. Their names are not disclosed in the interests of the investigation. The men are 34 and 30 years of age, the source noted.

An AKS-74U assault rifle, two magazines of 5,45mm cartridges, a bayonet, two F-1 grenades, and a Kenwood radio set were seized from the detainees. The rebels also carried a list of call names of the Gunib, Laki, Gerdebil and Levashi district police departments. Measures are being taken to determine the detainees' involvement in committed crimes.
