Army aviation destroys two rebel caravans in Chechnya

KHANKALA. Nov 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian army aviation has destroyed two rebel caravans in Chechnya.

"The crew of an MI-24 Hind helicopter, on a combat mission en route from Khankala to Ersenoi, detected two extremist caravans and opened fire. Three rebels were killed, according to preliminary information," a source in the headquarters of the Combined Federal Forces in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

Army aviation helicopters have flown a total of about 30 missions in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, supporting actions of federal special-purpose units.

MI-8 Hip transport helicopters airlifted 70 people and 15t of cargo on Sunday at requests from the federal command.
