Russia, Norway to sign agreement on cooperation in border issues

MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has signed a decree paving the way for an agreement with Norway on working together on border issues, the government information department told Interfax on Monday.

The Russian Federal Border Guard Service has received instructions to hold talks with Norway and to sign the agreement with the country's Justice Ministry and police.

Russia and Norway will see to it that that border regulations are observed, cooperate in search and rescue operations for people at sea, track down and prevent crimes related to fishing, drug- trafficking, illegal immigration and the smuggling of weapons and explosives across the border between the two countries.
