Chiefs-of-staff of North Caucasus, Georgian border guard depts to hold talks Thursday

TBILISI. Nov 13 (Interffax-AVN) - The chiefs-of-staff of the North Caucasus regional border guard department and Georgian Border Guard Department, Lieutenant General Valery Putov and Colonel Kornely Salia, will launch three-day talks here on Thursday.

"The talks will be devoted to the practical implementation of an agreement on joint events on the border reached by the two countries' presidents at a summit in Chisinau on October 6," Salia told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The chiefs-of-staff will discuss reconnaissance, regular exchange of information and other practical measures providing for joint reliable control over borders.

"Tbilisi hopes for a fruitful dialogue on the Chechen, Dagestani and Ingush border sections, as well as on the entire border and the Abkhaz and South Ossetian problems," Salia said.

He recalled that Russian and Georgian border chiefs signed a corresponding protocol on joint events on the border in Yerevan on October 17.
