Rebel sets off grenade in passenger bus in North Caucasian republic

NAZRAN. Nov 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Four people died and eight others were wounded in an operation in which local police and security officers were detaining rebel fighters in the bus station in Malgobek, Russian internal republic of Ingushetia bordering on Chechnya, on Thursday evening.

As he was escaping detention, a man burst in a passenger bus and set off a hand grenade, killing himself and three other people and wounding eight more, a source in the republic's Interior Ministry told Interfax on Friday.

Several men have been detained. They are said to carry identity cards of Chechen administration head Akhmad Kadyrov's bodyguards. An investigation is underway.
