NAZRAN/GROZNY. Nov 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Four people died and nine were wounded in an operation in which local police and security officers detained rebel fighters at a bus station in Malgobek, Ingushetia, bordering on Chechnya, sources in the Ingush Interior Ministry told Interfax on Friday.
Three Chechen law enforcement officials burst into a minibus on Thursday afternoon while trying to detain two people, Imran Msalayev and Isa Minkalov, also Chechens. An unidentified individual blew up a grenade in the bus, killing Msalayev and three other passengers and wounding nine.
After that, the attackers forcibly put Minkailov into a car and drove away. They were soon arrested near the administrative border of Chechnya.
An investigation has been opened.
The three law enforcement officials were in Ingushetia to detain three rebels close to Shamil Basayev, the source told Interfax.
