MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin gave medals "For Military Merits" to a group of officials from the Russian army and navy in the Central Museum of Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.
"The role of soldiers and sailors, who accomplish combat missions at the battlefield is very high. That is how it was in the Great Patriotic War times and at present our soldiers and sailors worthily perform their military duties," Kvashnin said.
He gave medals "For Military Merits" and precious presents from the Moscow mayor's office to the group. The group featured commander of the Moskva missile cruiser of the Black Sea Fleet Colonel Alexander Shcherbitsky, Colonel Alexander Zhukov, inspector of a group of the search and rescue support to aviation flights and Hero of Russia, Senior Aide Viktor Vasilyev, deputy commander of the group who served in the Land Forces in the Far Eastern military district, Petty Officer Svetlana Bazhanov, instructor of a medical point of the Strategic Missile Forces, and Senior Sergeant Igor Antipov, commander of a communication platoon of the commandant regiment.
Participants of the event laid chaplets to the Motherland monument in the Memory Hall.
