ST.PETERSBURG. Nov 18 (Interfax-AVN) -Special vehicles and protective assets will be handed over to sappers of the Leningrad military district by the St. Petersburg administration on Monday.
"The transfer of two Gazel jeeps specially equipped for mine- clearance as well as domestic Fontan anti-blast containers will be attended by Deputy Governor Anna Markova, the Spetsmaterialy research and production company's director general Mikhail Silnikov and the Leningrad military district's chief-of-staff Colonel General Pavel Labutin," a spokesman for the district's engineering troops headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency. The event will happen in a guard and maintenance battalion of the district's headquarters.
"The specially equipped Gazel jeeps will be handed to the district's mobile mine-clearance groups that are on round-the-clock duty in the city," the spokesman said.
According to him, the Fontan containers designed by Spetsmaterialy will help sappers quickly block a danger zone and examine explosive devices without causing interference in the X-day band.
