MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax-AVN) - President Vladimir Putin believes that Russia's future relies on advances in high technologies.
"Russia is very rich in raw materials, mineral resources and subsoil reserves, but this is will not last forever," Putin said during his visit to the Mashinostroyeniye enterprise on Tuesday. "Russia's future lies with high technologies," he said.
Commenting on Russia's missile and space sector, the president noted that only 15% of it is involved in "purely defense sector projects." "Regular and sufficient government financing is needed to keep the sector afloat and contribute to its development," Putin said.
The remaining 85% of the sector works on dual-use technologies. "Here we cannot do without the proper organization of production, scientific research and broad cooperation, including international contacts," Putin said.
He noted that Russia can be proud of its rocket and space sector today. "Russia's future depends on advances in this sector," he said. "Mashinostroyeniye will not bottle Coca-Cola," the president said jokingly.
Putin also congratulated Russia's artillery and missile troops on their professional holiday.
