Chief-of-staff to represent Ukraine at CIS defense ministers' meeting

KYIV. Nov 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Chief-of-Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Zatynaiko will represent Ukraine at the meeting of the CIS defense ministers in Moscow on Wednesday.

Ukraine is traditionally taking part in the meetings as an observer, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The meeting will address, in particular, the Military Cooperation Concept for up to 2010. The defense ministers will also discuss setting up the coordination committee of communication chiefs and the Armed Forces joint communication system in the CIS framework, organizing interaction between the coordination headquarters and military control bodies of the CIS armies, and ensuring information exchanges between the general staffs.

Participants in the session will consider the concept of joint military-research backing of military aircraft operation in the CIS.

They will address a series of problems related to organizing interaction between aircraft search and rescue services of the CIS armed forces.
