Chairman of U.S Joint Chiefs-of-Staff to visit Georgia November 23- 25

TBILISI. Nov 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Chairman of the U.S Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Richard Myers will make an official visit to Georgia on November 23-25.

" Myers will meet with Defense Minister David Tevzadze on Sunday, and his meeting with President Eduard Shevardnadze is scheduled for Monday," a source in the Georgian General Staff told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Mayers will visit Georgia by invitation from Chief-of-Staff Dzhoni Pirtskhalaishvili to discuss the prospects of military cooperation between the defense ministries of two countries.

While staying in Georgia, the general will travel to the Krtsanissi training center where U.S. military instructors are training personnel of Georgian anti-terrorist battalions in the framework of the training and equipping program. The center named after victims of the terrorist attack on the United States on September 11, 2001, will host the opening of a memorial to the victims that Mayers is planning to attend.
