Federal Border Guard Service registers 10 lethal aircraft accidents in three years

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Ten lethal and four non-lethal accidents have taken place in the aviation of the Federal Border Guard Service since January 1, 2000, a competent source in the service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

A considerable deterioration of flight personnel skills, poor material and technical support of border guard aviation units, aging and wearing of equipment are the main causes for the accidents, the source said.

"In such circumstances, growing tensions in flights bring about an increase in the probability of mistakes in piloting and operation of aircraft, which often ends with aircraft accidents," the source stressed.

As many as 13 lethal and 19 non-lethal accidents took place in the Armed Forces aviation from January 1, 2000 to November 1, 2002. 75% of accidents were caused by mistakes of organizing, making and servicing flights. Equipment failures caused the rest of the accidents.
