Large batch of artillery rounds seized in Chechnya

GROZNY. Nov 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal forces in Chechnya found about 40 artillery rounds in guerillas' hides Saturday and Sunday.

Plenty of explosives, antitank and antipersonnel mines were also found, a source in HQ, temporary Interior Ministry force, North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency.

He also said that the explosives and munitions were intended for making landmines.

Another large hide with explosives and munitions - 4,000 cartridges, above 20 rounds for AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher, and several kilos of explosives - was found by the military and police in a private house in Vedeno Sunday.

During search operations and individual check-ups, five small arms pieces, including an AKM assault rifle, a pistol, and fowling pieces, were seized from Chechen residents.
