More than 40 fights registered between border guards, smugglers on Tajik-Afghan border this year

MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax-AVN) - This year has seen more than 40 engagements between Russian border guards and armed drug smugglers on the Tajik-Afghan border. One border guard was killed and nine injured, the press center of the Russian Federal Border Guard Service told Interfax-Military News Agency Tuesday.

More than 1,800 kg of heroin have been intercepted on the border this year. The latest batch of 10 kg was stopped Monday by the guards of the Kalai-Khum border guard detachment. In the near future, the heroin will be destroyed as prescribed.

Over the past few days, it has been the third case like this on the Tajik-Afghan border. On Monday, 47 kg of heroin were extracted from a hide in the AoR of the Pyandzh detachment, the press service said. According to the press service, another six kilograms of heroin and more than 100 kg of raw opium were left by Afghan drug smugglers after a fire engagement with border guards in the AoR of the Moscow detachment.
