NATO secretary general to discuss anti-terrorist cooperation in Moscow

MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax-AVN) - NATO Secretary General George Robertson will arrive in Moscow on December 8 for a working visit.

"The NATO secretary general will meet with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov on the same day," a Defense Ministry source told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

Robertson and Ivanov will discuss NATO-Russia cooperation, bearing in mind that seven countries have been invited to the accession talks, he said. Official invitations were made to Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia at the NATO summit in Prague on November 22.

"In addition, George Robertson and Sergei Ivanov will discuss Russia-NATO cooperation in the fight against international terrorism," the source said.

While staying in Moscow, Robertson will attend a joint Russian-NATO conference on the military's role in combating terrorism. The event will take place in the Defense Ministry's main office on December 9.

Robertson will leave Moscow on December 10.
