Russia, India to develop joint arms production - minister

NEW DELHI. Dec 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and India will develop projects for the joint production of weapons, Russian Industry, Science, and Technology Minister Ilya Klebanov told the press in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Military-technical cooperation between the two countries is developing "very positively," Klebanov said.

He recalled that India is Russia's second partner after China on the scale of military-technical cooperation.

In January next year, Moscow will host a session of the commission on military-technical cooperation between Russia and India. Klebanov said this commission will hopefully make decisions on launching large projects, such as the joint production of military transportation aircraft capable of carrying up to 100 people, air defense systems, warplanes, and armored vehicles.
