BISHKEK. Dec 5 (Interfax-AVN) - A suicide bomber made an attempt on the life of Afghan First Vice President and Defense Minister Mohammad Fahim Khan in late November.
Interfax obtained this information on Thursday from a source with the Russian military delegation, led by Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, which is currently in Bishkek.
The terrorist carried 10 kilos of explosives strapped to his body. He was standing near the entrance to a mosque when the Afghan defense minister was entering. The terrorist was detained and has already told interrogators that he had undergone training in Pakistan, the source said.
"It is really regrettable that a number of countries, which claim that they support the fight against terrorism and consider themselves members of the antiterrorist coalition, in fact train terrorists on their territory and provide them with financial, ideological, legal, and other assistance. These countries include Pakistan, Georgia, and a number of others," the source said.
