Russian military to monitor quality of products for special services

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax-AVN) - A quality monitoring system for military-use products is being created within the Joint Unified Logistics System, a competent source in the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency Monday.

According to the source, only representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry will stay at the enterprises to monitor the quality of products to be delivered to logistics support departments. All other state agencies, first of all the Interior Ministry and Federal Border Guard Service, will withdraw their teams as unnecessary.

"In particular, the Interior Ministry and Federal Border Guard Services will withdraw their teams from St. Petersburg, Ivanovo, Kostroma, and Rostov-on-Don enterprises making military and special clothes and shoes," the source said.

As estimated by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the financial output of the measure will make more than RUB2.6m (USD81,000) per year.

The Joint Unified Logistics Support System was approved by the Russian government on February 9, 2002.
