Guerillas assault law-enforcers three times in Chechnya

GROZNY. Dec 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Guerillas have attacked law- enforcers in Chechnya three times.

"Late on Tuesday, guerillas opened fire at the house of Lieutenant Khizid Taramov in the Podgornoye village in the Nadterechnaya district. The policeman was seriously wounded," a source in the Chechen interior department told Interfax-Military News Agency.

Rebels attacked two more law-enforcers in Grozny. Officers of the Oktyabrsky district police department were captured and driven away in an unknown direction.

A total of 16 crimes and incidents were registered in Chechnya on Tuesday. Four of them were detected hot on the trail. "Grave crimes such as brigandage and murder accound for most of the offences. One of them happened in the Kurchaloi district's Novaya Zhizn village where masked individuals killed three local residents," the source said.
