MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax-AVN) - A Russian delegation led by Interior Ministry Troops Commander Army General Vyacheslav Tikhomirov arrived in China on Monday.
"The visit takes place under the auspices of cooperation between the Russian Interior Ministry and Chinese Public Security Ministry," chief of the troops' press service Colonel Vasily Panchenkov told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Before leaving for China, Tikhomirov told Interfax-AVN that "the aim of the visit is to discuss common problems of the Russian Interior Ministry troops and Chinese police forces." "The interests of law-enforcement agencies in the two countries largely coincide, they concern combating ethnic separatism, international terrorism, crime and regional extremism," the general said.
"The experience gained by the Russian Interior Ministry troops during the anti-terrorist operations in Chechnya will obviously be useful for the forces of the Chinese Public Security Ministry," Tikhomirov noted.
The delegation will stay in China for four days. It plans to study the combat training of personnel of the Chinese police forces, and share experience in accomplishing service and combat missions.
The delegation consists of commander of the Moscow district of the Interior Ministry troops Colonel General Yevgeny Baryaev, commander of the North Caucasus district of the Interior Ministry troops Colonel General Mikhail Labunets, chief of the quartering and construction section in the Interior Ministry logistics support department Major General Vladimir Panov, and chief of a unit in the Volga district of the Interior Ministry troops Major General Vasily Bykadorov.
