MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Moscow has transferred to Ottawa concrete information about the terrorist nature of several Chechen organizations and their connections to international Islamic extremists.
The information was transferred in order to put the Chechen organizations on the official list of terrorist organizations banned in Canada, highly placed Russian sources told Interfax on Monday.
Canada and a number of other countries, among them the United States, are keeping such black lists in accordance with national legislation, the sources said.
The Canadian authorities said the anti-terrorist law adopted in 2001 was aimed at fighting terrorism on the global scale, not only on national territory, the sources remarked.
