RYBINSK, Yaroslavl Region. Dec 19 (Interfax-AVN) - GTE-110 gas-turbine systems manufactured by the local Saturn research and production association will be the main element of technical rearmament in Russia's energy industry, a Saturn spokesman said on Thursday.
"The future of Russian gas-energy industry lies in the transition from steam plants to gas-turbine plants," the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency. The share of gas in the Russian energy industry amounts to 68 percent.
That is why the experience in putting the GTE-110 gas- turbine plant in experimental operation in Ivanovo is extremely important, the spokesman said.
He quoted chairman of the Unified Energy Systems of Russia company Anatoly Chubais as saying that "the GTE-110 gas turbine is definitely the key element in the entire strategy of the upcoming technical rearmament in the Russian energy industry."
"It is clear that this country's entire gas energy industry must abandon traditional steam plants and adopt gas-turbine plants. This means huge orders for machine-builders," Chubais was quoted as saying.
According to Chubais, the priority in modernization of facilities of generating companies and networks and in introduction of gas-turbine power plants will be given to domestic developments, including power plants of Saturn.
Chibais has conferred the honorary titles of Distinguished Employee of the Unified Energy Systems of Russia and Energy Industry Veteran on several employees of Staurn, Ivenergo JS, Ivelektronakladka JS and other organizations for active participation in building and putting into operation the GTE-110 power plant.
