Two army servicemen killed in Chechnya in a week

KHANKALA. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Two servicemen of the Russian Defense Ministry were killed in Chechnya last week.

"Two servicemen were killed and five wounded in search and intelligence missions conducted by army units in Chechnya last week," a source at federal force headquarters in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

He said that since the beginning of the anti-guerilla effort in Chechnya in October 1999 Defense Ministry units have lost 2,746 men, 6,450 have been wounded and 27 are missing in action. Searches for them continue in the territory of Chechnya.
