Russia-Iran atomic energy cooperation complies with Non- Proliferation Treaty - deputy minister

MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian-Iranian atomic energy cooperation complies with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Mamedov said in an interview published in the Monday issue of Vremya Novostei.

"The Treaty both bans the development of nuclear weapons and encourages cooperation in atomic energy," he stressed.

"Russia is ready to make any guarantee, cooperate with the with Iran to see that used nuclear fuel is returned and cannot be used for the production of nuclear weapon components even in secrecy," the deputy minister said.

"By the way, the Iranian foreign minister has invited inspectors to the two nuclear sites that were allegedly filmed from space. Let the specialists take a look. They are not Russians or Iranians, they are Anglo-Saxons, who have no special liking for Iran," Mamedov said.
