MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Preparations for two space launches due later this week are progressing as planned at the Plesetsk and Baikonur cosmodromes, the Space Troops press service reported on Monday.
"Preparations for the launch of the Molnia-M medium class booster rocket with a military purpose spacecraft are about to enter the final stage at the Plesetsk cosmodrome. The launch is scheduled for December 24," the press service said.
Combat crews of the cosmodrome placed the booster rocket with the Kosmos spacecraft on the launch pad 16 at 10:10 a.m. Moscow time (0710 GMT) on Sunday.
Preparations for the launch of the Proton-K heavy class booster rocket are underway at Baikonur. The launch is planned for Wednesday.
"The Proton-K booster rocket with three Russian spacecraft that are to be added to the GLONASS orbital group was placed on launch pad No. 81 at 9:05 a.m. Moscow time (0605 GMT) on Sunday," the press service said.
