Moscow supports U.S. cooperation call for denuclearizing Korean Peninsula

MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Moscow has received with interest a proposal U.S. President George W. Bush made in an interview with the U.S. News and World Report on U.S. cooperation with Russia and China to preserve peace and reach a common goal - a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said on Tuesday.

"Russia is willing to take active involvement in any diplomatic efforts aimed at developing dialogue in the interests of ensuring a nuclear-free status for the Korean Peninsula through strict observation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and related IAEA resolutions by all parties," Yakovenko said.
