Russian Defense Ministry concerned over poor skills of graduates of Suvorov military colleges

MOSCOW. Dec 25 (Interfax-AVN) - An analysis of results of enrolment in higher military educational establishments of the Defense Ministry demonstrates that the military and professional training of cadets is below the needed level in several Suvorov colleges.

"Less than 63% of graduates of Suvorov colleges in St. Petersburg, Kazan and Tver were enrolled in higher military educational establishments in 2002," a source in the ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

He noted that "over 18% of graduates were not permitted to compete for enrolment, including 3% due to poor health, 9% due to failure at exams and over 5% due to reluctance to study, poor discipline and unsatisfactory performance at professional mental screening."
