MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The terrorist act that occurred in Grozny on Friday became possible due to insufficient security measures in the city, Akhmad Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen administration, told Interfax.
"How did terrorists manage to get to the government building? The actions of the security guards will have to be investigated, too," Kadyrov told Interfax.
Two powerful blasts killed at least 32 people and injured over 60 near the Chechen government building in Grozny on Friday.
Kadyrov said he does not think there is any point in stepping up security and conducting special operations after the terrorist act. "We have done this so many times, and what's the use? Terrorists still rule in Grozny," he said.
However, Adlan Magomadov, the plenipotentiary representative of the Chechen Republic in the Kremlin, told Interfax that "security has been stepped up in Grozny." Defense and security officials have been tasked with determining the origin of the vehicles used by the terrorists to carry explosives into Grozny, he told Interfax. He also said that serious questions will be asked of those responsible for security: the Justice Ministry, the Federal Body Guard Service and the Federal Security Service."
Ekho Moskvy radio reported that Kadyrov urgently left Moscow for Grozny on Friday evening.
