GROZNY. Dec 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Gunmen kidnapped Lieutenant Colonel Nakhapetov, military commissioner of the Zavodskoy district of Grozny, and Lieutenant Colonel Vityazev, chief of the 2nd department in the district military commissioner's office, at about 4:00 p.m. Moscow time (1300 GMT) on Monday.
"Guerillas stopped a Toyota car the officers were riding on, put a gun at them, took them to a Zhiguli car by force and drove away in an unknown direction," a source in the Chechen Interior Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The incident happened in the Zavodskoi district of Grozny, the source said.
Full-scale search operations have been launched in the city to detain the kidnappers.
Chief of the Defense Ministry's press service Colonel Nikolai Deryabin confirmed the kidnapping on Tuesday.
"Search for the kidnapped officers has been organized," Deryabin told Interfax-AVN.
