Air crash not to affect Ukraine aircraft firm's plans

KHARKIV. Jan 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The crash 10 days ago of a plane manufactured by the Kharkiv Aircraft Plant will not affect its production plans or any of its contractual or financial commitments, the company's general director said on Friday.

An AN-140 made by the plant and belonging to the Ukrainian airline Aeronauts crashed near Isfahan, Iran, killing everyone aboard - six crew members and 38 passengers, among whom were senior figures in the Ukrainian aviation industry and five senior officials in the Russian aerospace sector.

The plant has "a weighty portfolio of contracts" for this year and a number of pre-contract agreements, General Director Pavlo Naumenko told reporters.

He said the plant would also take part in international aerospace shows in India and Australia late this month and early next month, where it would demonstrate the AN-140 and one of the modifications of the AN-74 Coaler.

There was also a plan to make a round-the-world flight aboard an AN-140, he said.
