MOSCOW. Jan 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Investigation into causes for the Ukrainian AN-140 plane crash in Iran is yet at the initial stage, a spokesman for the Interstate Aviation Committee said on Wednesday.
"At today's session of the Ukrainian governmental commission, officials of the Interstate Aviation Committee are only reporting the results of decoding flight recorder materials found on the scene of the crash. Nobody will report on results for the crash today, for this issue requires further investigation," the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.
It is not easy to establish causes for the plane crash near the Iranian city of Isfahan, because investigators "have to find out why the plane departed from the trajectory that was recommended to it for making the final approach and published in an aeronavigation data compilation," the spokesman said.
It is impossible to establish the cause for such a serious aircraft incident and work out recommendations for preventing similar incidents in a few days. As a rule, there is no single cause in such situations, there is almost always a set of circumstances, and their thorough analysis requires a lot of time," the expert said.
According to him, the Interstate Aviation Committee is instructed to handle technical investigation into the incident. Deputy chairman of the committee's commission for investigating air transport incidents Georgy Yachmenev is a member of the governmental commission. The committee is represented by deputy chairman Rudolf Teimurazov at the Wednesday session of the governmental commission.
The investigation is far from over, Vladimir Rudakov, head of the state flight security control department in the State Civil Aviation Service under the Russian Transportation Ministry, told Interfax-AVN.
The State Civil Aviation Service has given some recommendations to Russian airlines taking into account the scenario and possible causes for the air crash near Isfahan.
"The recommendations dealt with issues for paying extra attention to in preparation of crews and flight control, as well as guidelines for preventive measures. The recommendations will be specified when results of the investigation are published," Rudakov said.
The AN-140 of Ukraine's Aeromost airlines crashed 70km from Isfahan on December 23. The crash killed the 44 people aboard the plane, these being six crewmembers and 38 passengers. Heads and experts of the Ukrainian aircraft industry and five Russian citizens were among the victims.
Head of the Iranian Aviation Association Rouhoddin Aboutallebi said the AN-140 crash was caused by pilots' mistake.
Both flight recorders were found on the scene. The recorders register data on the plane's flight altitude, speed, movement direction, etc.
