ROSTO's 3rd driving school trains about 4,000 per year

ST.PETERSBURG. Jan 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The 3rd driving school of the Russian Defense Sports and Technical Organization (ROSTO) for St. Petersburg and Leningrad region trains about 4,000 drivers and other specialists per year.

Radar and long-distance radio operator courses, as well as battery specialist courses, were launched recently, and now crane operator courses are being prepared, a source with ROSTO's department for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region told Interfax-Military News Agency Monday.

About 80 percent of instructors are experienced former Land Forces commissioned officers.

Not only cadets for the Land Forces, but also young civilian men are trained in the school, the latter for fee.

According to the ROSTO department, about five percent of all drivers in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region have been trained at these courses, and about 25 percent of soldiers of automobile units organic the Leningrad military district and the Northwestern regional border guard department have been trained by the 3rd school.
