KYIV. Jan 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Twenty-one military inspection teams will visit Ukraine this year in accordance with the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty, the Ukrainian Armed Forces press service reported on Monday.
"The treaty provides for annual exchanges of information between member-states on the number of personnel, armament systems and hardware pieces as well as inspections of the territories of the countries that signed the treaty. This year, inspections will start on March 17. Ukraine will be visited by 21 inspection teams. Last year, 22 international inspection teams visited the country," the press service said.
The Bundeswehr verification center in Germany's Geilenkirchen and NATO Verification Coordinating Committee in Brussels will add information collected through data exchange between the treaty's signatories to NATO's Verity database from January 13 to 19, the press service said.
Ukraine will be represented at the events by Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Shaidyuk, chief of a group in the Ukrainian General Staff's center for military cooperation and verification. Ukrainian military specialists will participate in the checking of exchange data provided by the CFE signatories.
