North Caucasus military district chief orders investigation into mass hospitalization of servicemen

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Jan 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Commander of the North Caucasus military district Colonel General Vladimir Boldyrev has ordered an investigation into the recent mass hospitalization of servicemen.

"Medical experts and officers of the district headquarters appointed by the commander are investigating the case. It is too early to draw conclusions, but it seems that both commanders and doctors are to blame, for they failed to provide needed aid to the sick servicemen on time," a source in the headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

According to preliminary data, the majority of hospitalized servicemen and sergeants were hospitalized with pneumonia. The source refused to specify the number of sick servicemen.

Media outlets have reported that some 60 soldiers of a unit of the district were hospitalized because they could have supercooled on the way to the bathhouse located far from their barrack.
