TALLINN. Jan 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Estonian delegation completed the second round of NATO admission talks in Brussels on Thursday. The talks focussed on three key subjects: financial resources necessary for admission, information protection, and legal matters, the Estonian Foreign Ministry press service told Interfax.
Delegation leader Juri Luik said Estonia confirmed it will spend 2% of GDP on defense. Spending for NATO admission will also be covered by that sum, including the opening of a mission at the alliance's European headquarters and participation in NATO services.
Luik said that when legal matters were considered, they discussed international agreements and other documents Estonia will have to join as a NATO member. In addition to the North Atlantic Treaty, Estonia will have to sign about 10 other international agreements.
Estonia hopes to complete the admission talks at the end of March.
