Two terrorist acts prevented in Chechnya

GROZNY. Jan 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Two terrorist acts were prevented in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the regional operational headquarters in charge of the Chechnya campaign told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.

"A pressure mine made on the basis of a 152mm artillery shell was found by an engineering reconnaissance unit 1km north of the Prigorodnoye village in the Grozny rural district. Another landmine was planted on a road near the Suvorov-Yurt village in the Gudermes district. It was made on the basis of an 82mm wire- guided mine. Wires were heading for nearby half-ruined building where the demolition man's position was established. The explosive devices were destroyed on the spot," the spokesman said.

According to him, special and pin-point operations that were held in Chechnya in the past 24 hours resulted in the seizure of six assault rifles, five grenade launchers, 21 hand grenades, 16 artillery shells, and seven mortar shells. Federals also destroyed 11 illegal oil refineries, detained three refuellers and seized 17t of illegally obtained fuel and lubricants.
