Field training of missile and artillery units begins in Moscow Military District

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Field training of missile and artillery units, which is due to end in late February began in the Moscow Military District on Wednesday, Major General Nikolai Frolov, chief of the district's missile and artillery forces, told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The field training will engage all the relevant units in the district, including the 34th artillery division headquartered in Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod region, the only one in the Armed Forces. The training will include live firing exercises for 90 percent of the district's artillery at the Gorokhovets training center and at four other training grounds of the district," Frolov said.

He also said that battery and squadron test firing were planned, as well as live firing exercises and real launches of the Tochka missiles.

"Actually, the results of the field training will be the indication of combat training efficiency of missile and artillery units for the whole winter training period," the general said.
