MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed that Russia has a long-term strategy for its relations with China.
Putin made this statement in response to a proposal put forward by Khabarovsk Governor Viktor Ishayev at a State Council session on Wednesday.
The strategy is based on the friendship and cooperation treaty. It provides "a reliable, good basis. Although there are problems, they should be resolved via a consensus and with regard for mutual interests. This approach emerged in the border division process. It has been put into practice, positive dialogue is underway and positive resolutions will be made. This will require compromises, but the issue will be finalized in the near future. We have every reason to believe so," he said.
"We should analyze the events in China and reach acceptable decisions to meet our national interests," he said.
