Russia to exhibit above 300 pieces of defense industry products at Bangalore air show

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The India-2003 international air show due to be held in Bangalore February 5 to 9 will see the products of above 60 Russian defense industry enterprises, Viktor Komardin, deputy CEO of the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader, told reporters Wednesday.

In response to a question from Interfax-Military News Agency, Komardin said that "Russia will exhibit more than 300 pieces of defense-related products."

He also said that this time Russia would have twice as much operational area (1,200sq.m) as at the last year's Bangalore show.

The Sukhoi military aircraft corporation and Irkut corporation will present SU aircraft, including the SU-30MKI being supplied to India. From this year on, the fighter will be license-produced by HAL Corp., India. Another Russian aircraft producer MIG will offer the MIG-29M2 Fulcrum multipurpose fighter and the MIG-AT trainer. The Yakovlev company will show the new cockpit for the YAK-130 trainer. Kamov- and Mil-produced helicopters will also be present, including the KA-50 Hokum and MI-28 Havoc attack helicopters.

All in all, about 400 firms from 30 countries are expected to participate in the show.

Komardin also said that the Russian defense industry would be represented at 22 arms shows this year, which is by four more than in the previous year.
