Another trainload of military hardware removed from Transdnestria

TIRASPOL. Jan 22 (Interfax-AVN) - A trainload of military property that belonged to Russia's 14th Army departed from the self-proclaimed republic of Transdnestria on Wednesday morning. It was the third such shipment this year.

The military property is being removed from Transdnestria under agreements between Russia and Transdnestria signed in Tiraspol on September 26, 2002. Part of Transdnestria's debt to Russia, USD100m, will be written off as compensation.

Four trainloads of equipment had been sent to Russia from Transdnestria by the end of 2002. Russia's 14th Army possessed over 40,000 tonnes of military property. As many as 150 trains will be needed to completely remove this materiel from Transdnestria.
