Georgian state minister discusses cooperation with Israeli arms producers

TBILISI. Jan 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian State Minister Avtandil Dzhorbenadze, who is making an official visit to Israel, visited the IMI military industrial consortium to discuss bilateral cooperation, a spokesman for Dzhorbenadze's administration told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

The Israeli party expressed its interest in cooperation with the Georgian defense industry. Dzhorbenadze invited officials of the consortium to visit Georgia.

The IMI is a state consortium that is reporting to the Israeli Defense Ministry, the spokesman said. The company consists of 15 plants with a total sales volume of USD518m. The consortium provides arms and equipment for the Israeli army. In particular, the company's enterprises produce ammo and modernize various tanks, the spokesman noted.
